Healthy Bytes has three parts. Part I is an introductory discussion of the overweight problem/challenge and its burden (on people and society), and the argument for a different way of thinking to engineer a turnaround. The focus in Parts II and III is on the solution.

The focus of Part II is on understanding—helping lay readers think systematically about the inner workings of human weight/energy regulation so they can devise Judo-like tactics to better manage their own bodies and health. Part III introduces the suite of Mi eTools to help lay people do the three things they need to do well to succeed: (1) Setting a realistic weight-loss goal; (2) determining the proper (individually-tailored) caloric deficits to achieve it; and (3) devising a palatable and satisfying diet that can be sustained.
